FAQ’s
What is performance training?
In short, Performance Training is work done outside of sport practice to improve measurable outputs and durability/robustness of athletes to mitigate the likelihood of contact/non-contact injuries sustained through sport. This mainly comprises of utilizing weight-room training to improve physical outputs (speed, power and strength training) by applying Strength & Conditioning principles over the course of weeks and months. It is important to keep in mind that sport practice should still hold a priority. By mastering the skillset in sport alongside improved physical outputs, an athlete gains the ability to better express said skill.
How to manage performance through training and development?
Managing practice, training and overall development altogether can be done by implementing strategic fatigue management, and careful planning around practice and overall volume and intensity through a weekly period. By identifying what we can implement in recovery AND training that will provide the most return-on-investment, the athlete will prioritize those factors. We will be working together to discuss, alter and strategize the game plan together in our Online Coaching video calls.
How many days per week will I be training?
This will be dependent on your practice/game/life schedule as well as the experience level of the athlete. Generally speaking, I will program 2-4 days dedicated to training into each athlete’s athletic program per week (this will also change depending on your specified sport and frequency in practice throughout the week).
